Corrections
IRW tables are sometimes wrong: a processing script reads the wrong column, an upload doubles a table, a response is miscoded. This page states how IRW handles that, and lists corrections to published response tables.
How IRW records change
- Released versions do not change. Every IRW release is numbered, and the number always refers to the same data. Anything that pins a version (
irw_use_version()in R, a citation) keeps getting exactly what it got. - Corrections are new versions. When a table is found to differ from its source, the corrected table is published in a later release, and the earlier version stays available at its release number. Pin a version for stability; take the latest for correctness (the same rule applies to tags).
- Every correction is recorded. Each correction to a published response table adds a dated entry below: what changed, the IRW version in which it took effect, and the GitHub issue where it was reported.
- Renames and replacements point both ways. A table that replaces or is renamed from another names the table it replaces, and the replaced table’s entry names its successor.
- Duplicates are recorded, not adjudicated. When two tables derive from the same source, both are kept unless one is a processing error. IRW does not rank independent datasets of the same instrument or population.
- Withdrawals remove material from the current release onward. Material withdrawn for legal or rights reasons is removed from the current release and recorded internally; it is not listed here.
- IRW corrects fidelity to the source, not the source. A table is corrected when it does not match what its source released. Doubts about whether the source data are good are for the source’s authors and IRW’s data notes, not grounds for altering or flagging a table.
Corrections to item text are listed separately, on Known Issues. If you think a table is wrong, open an issue on GitHub.
Change record
This record begins with corrections released on 2026-08-27, and entries before 2026-09-19 were reconstructed afterwards from the issue tracker and Redivis’ version history, so it may be incomplete for that period. Earlier corrections are recorded only in the repositories’ commit history and in the versioned data itself. The IRW version is the first corpus version carrying the corrected table; irw_use_version() with any earlier number returns the table as it was.

| 2026-10-08 | 549 | avina_2026_immigrant_admission |
Retired: renamed. Its outcome asks which of two immigrants is “most beneficial to the US” (a judgement of benefit), not which to admit. Rows unchanged. Replaced by avina_2026_immigrant_benefit. |
#2887 |
| 2026-10-08 | 549 | avina_2026_immigrant_benefit |
New name for avina_2026_immigrant_admission: the outcome is “Which of these two immigrants is most beneficial to the US?”, not admission. Rows unchanged. Replaces avina_2026_immigrant_admission. |

| 2026-10-08 | brazzill_2020_social_investment |
Task 3 removed: in the deposit its choice duplicates task 2’s (same chosen profile for all 981 respondents with both; its 121 no-selection tasks are exactly the respondents missing task 2) while the profiles differ, so task 3’s real answers are not available. 6,856 to 4,652 rows; 1,320 to 1,274 respondents. Tasks 1-2 unchanged. |

| 2026-10-07 | 549 | arias_2022_climate_migrants_us |
cov_female borrowed the German sample’s code direction; no deposit file labels the US gender codes, so the column is now cov_gender_code with the source codes 1/2/3. Rows unchanged. |
#2887 |
| 2026-10-07 | 549 | bankert_2023_consumer_origin |
cov_age held the deposit’s age minus 17 (values 1-68); the authors add 17 back (Appendix.R L80). It now holds age in years (18-85). Covariates also renamed to the conjoint standard’s reserved names (cov_education, cov_party_id, cov_gender as text). Rows unchanged. |
#2887 |
| 2026-10-07 | 549 | donnaloja_2022_citizenship |
Profiles shown without the ancestry or refugee clause had attr_ancestry = “(no ancestry clause)” and attr_refugee = “(no refugee clause)”; both now read “(not shown)”, the conjoint standard’s value for an attribute left off a profile. Rows unchanged. |
#2887 |
| 2026-10-07 | 549 | shandler_2023_cyberterror |
cov_male coded the unlabelled gender code 3 (11 respondents) as 0 (female); it is now cov_gender (female/male) with code 3 missing. Covariates renamed to the conjoint standard’s reserved names (cov_birth_year added). Rows unchanged. |

| 2026-10-05 | 534 | PeSCBCSCe_Novak_2020_SPIRIT |
The table had been a copy of PeSCBCSCe_Novak_2020_SCBCS: the build script wrote the SCBCS data frame to the SPIRIT file, so it held SCBCS_1-SCBCS_5 (1-7). Rebuilt from the source’s SPIRIT block: 15 items, SPIRIT_1-SPIRIT_15 (1-6; item 15 is 1-4), with the source’s irregular column names (SIPRIT_8, SPIRIT_12_ALTR, SPIRIT_13_PRIJ, SPRIT_14, SPIRIT_15_) mapped to their item numbers. 2,860 to 8,580 rows; 572 ids, as before. | #2836 |
| 2026-10-05 | 534 | VCISM_Polish_Trzcinska_2023 |
id was the source’s child_code, the children’s initials, which IRW does not publish; it is now the row number of the source .sav. Initials also collided: 115 children had been merged into 104 ids (198 duplicate id-item-wave rows). Responses unchanged; rows 2,070. | #2844 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | chen2022_sasc |
Four items that are not part of the 10-item Social Anxiety Scale for Children (A45-A48, same 1-3 format and code family) removed; the table now holds A35-A44, the SASC-10 (alpha .72; the paper reports .73). 4,242 to 3,030 rows; 303 ids. Columns reordered to id, item, resp first. | #2841 |
| 2026-10-05 | 534 | deception_professors |
Items renamed from column-position numbers (1-21) to the source’s variable names (e.g. decept_percent_psych, psych_poolbans, you_worry_rigor). Old item 5 (orthogonal_to_rigor, always 1) removed: it was one category of a coded open answer, not an item. Old items 20 and 21 folded each coded open answer into one 1-8 code keeping only the first category ticked; they are replaced by one 0/1 item per category (reason_less_rigorous_, 9 items; reason_no_deception_, 8 items) for respondents whose answer was coded, so multiple categories and the previously missing orthogonal_to_rigor category are kept. Rows with no response (resp “NA”, 3,262) removed. 11,928 to 13,633 rows; 21 to 35 items; 568 ids. All other responses unchanged. Item text re-keyed to match. | #2846 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | development_delay_anunciacao_asqse |
The ASQ:SE-2 is nine questionnaires, one per age interval, and the build had pooled their positional columns under one code, so asqse5 meant a different question at each interval, and every position past an interval’s form length was written as a real 0. Item codes now name the interval and the form’s item number (q2m_01 .. q60m_36); only items on that interval’s form are kept, after asserting every dropped position was 0 for every questionnaire. Responses are the deposit’s item scores (0/5/10, keyed so 10 is the answer of most concern). Personal data and free text removed: cov_initials, cov_zipcode, cov_dob, cov_cdob, cov_disability_txt, cov_services_txt, cov_state (free text), and the open-ended answers cov_eating_other, cov_over_and_over, cov_fearful, cov_behavior_concern, cov_habit_concern, cov_worries, cov_enjoy. Also dropped: cov_weight (undocumented, mixed codings) and the constant cov_language, cov_asqse_version, cov_project, cov_contact, cov_referral, cov_se_eligibility. cov_age_m is now an integer (was e.g. “35m”). 1,003,587 to 775,481 rows (228,106 padding rows removed); 25,733 ids; 39 to 268 items. No response changed. |

The ASQ:SE-2 is nine questionnaires, one per age interval, and the build had pooled their positional columns under one code, so con5 meant a different question at each interval, and every position past an interval’s form length was written as a real 0. Item codes now name the interval and the form’s item number (q2m_01 .. q60m_36); only items on that interval’s form are kept, after asserting every dropped position was 0 for every questionnaire. Items 1..L are each scored item’s “check if this is a concern” circle (5 = checked, 0 = not); items L+1 and L+2 are the form’s two OVERALL yes/no questions (eating/sleeping/toileting concerns; other worries; 5 = yes). Personal data and free text removed: cov_initials, cov_zipcode, cov_dob, cov_cdob, cov_disability_txt, cov_services_txt, cov_state (free text), and the open-ended answers cov_eating_other, cov_over_and_over, cov_fearful, cov_behavior_concern, cov_habit_concern, cov_worries, cov_enjoy. Foil FOILS1 added (ticked by 4 of 337): the build selected items by column position and missed it. Items are now chosen by name. FOILS31 is still left out because nobody ticked it. 66,726 to 67,063 rows; 198 to 199 items. Other responses unchanged. | #2506 |
| 2026-10-05 | 540 | jaracz_2017_temperament |
TEMPS-A item 1 (the source’s TEMPS1, binary like the rest) had been dropped as a lead-in; it is now included. Items are renamed to their TEMPS-A numbers: the source names the rest by SPSS variable position, ZmnK = item K - 6, so Zmn8..Zmn116 are now temps2..temps110 and TEMPS1 is temps1. 21,800 to 22,000 rows; 109 to 110 items; 200 ids. Other responses unchanged. | #2849 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | lsbq_maleki_2025_dominant_language_home_community |
Every “all Persian” answer (the scale’s first category, resp 1) had been dropped: the build’s label map keyed it as ‘1all persin’ while the source’s label is ‘all persin’. The file is now read as numeric codes, shipped as code + 1 (1 = all Persian … 5 = only the other language). One out-of-range code that had passed as resp 5 (item 19.7) is removed. 3,031 to 4,538 rows; 284 to 321 ids; 15 items. The source’s ‘persin’ typo in the cov_infancy-cov_high_school_age labels is corrected, and cov_handedness’s unlabelled code reads 3 rather than 3.0. | #2839 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | lsbq_maleki_2025_non_persian_proficiency |
Item 17.1.U (understanding) added: the build had asked for a .L code the source does not use. One out-of-range slider value (107.5 on a 0-10 slider) is excluded. 929 to 1,240 rows (311 answers added); 312 ids. Responses present before are unchanged; the source’s ‘persin’ typo in the cov_infancy-cov_high_school_age labels is corrected. |

| 2026-10-05 | 536 | lsbq_maleki_2025_non_persian_use |
Every “all Persian” answer (resp 1) on 21.1-21.9 had been dropped (a ‘1all persin’ key in the build’s label map), and the four 17.2 items (S/U/R/W: how much of the time the other language is used, none to all) were missing because their labels had no mapping. The file is now read as numeric codes, shipped as code + 1 (1-5). 1,764 to 4,091 rows; 9 to 13 items; 295 to 321 ids. Responses present before are unchanged. | #2839 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | lsbq_maleki_2025_persian_comprehension |
Item 16.1.U (understanding) added: the build had asked for a .L code the source does not use. 962 to 1,282 rows (320 answers added); 321 ids. Responses present before are unchanged; the source’s ‘persin’ typo in the cov_infancy-cov_high_school_age labels is corrected. |

| 2026-10-05 | 536 | moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_dt |
The build had appended the issue/trial number to id, and the source repeats each person’s answers on every issue row, so every respondent appeared as 6 ids with identical answers. id is now the respondent (study<k>_<ResponseID>); 7,290 to 1,215 rows, 2,430 to 405 ids; no response changed. rt (the total survey duration, constant within person) renamed cov_completion_time_s; the study column dropped. |

| 2026-10-05 | 536 | moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_moral |
Retired: it pooled three different instruments (the 1-10 Moral Relativism Questionnaire in Studies 3 and 7, a 1-7 agreement version in Study 4, and 1-7 issue immorality ratings in Study 5), served Study 5 and 7 respondents as 11 and 6 ids, and Study 4’s _timed/_ctrl item suffixes named the wrong condition for 12 of 18 codes. Replaced by moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_mr (Studies 3 and 7), moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_mr_agree (Study 4) and moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_immorality (Study 5). Replaced by moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_mr; moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_mr_agree; moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_immorality. |

| 2026-10-05 | 536 | moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_mr |
The build had appended the issue/trial number to id, and the source repeats each person’s answers on every issue row, so every respondent appeared as 6 ids with identical answers. id is now the respondent (study<k>_<ResponseID>); Studies 3 and 7, which administered the same nine items on the same 1-10 scale (formerly moral1-moral9 in moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_moral), are now pooled here as mr1-mr9, with cov_study. Study 3’s age, gender and social class had been read from its education, social class and country questions; corrected. 21,870 rows / 2,430 ids to 8,260 rows / 918 ids (212 + 405 + 301); no response changed. rt renamed cov_completion_time_s. Replaces moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_moral. |
#2563 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_mr_agree |
New table split out of moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_moral: Study 4’s nine statements rated 1-7, items mr1-mr9 in the Moral Relativism Questionnaire’s order, with treat = 1 for the time-pressure condition (251 ids). The old item codes had pointed at the wrong condition for 12 of 18 codes and were offset by three items. Replaces moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_moral. |
#2563 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc |
Retired: it pooled the 41-item (Study 3) and 15-item (Study 6) Need for Closure forms under the same item codes, served each Study 6 respondent as 6 ids, and took Study 3’s nfc13 and nfc15 from the consent screens (constant 1). Replaced by moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc41 and moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc15. Replaced by moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc15; moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc41. |

| 2026-10-05 | 536 | moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc15 |
New table split out of moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc: Study 6’s 15-item form, one row per respondent-item (405 ids; the old table had 2,430). No response changed. Replaces moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc. |
#2563 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc41 |
New table split out of moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc: Study 3’s 41-item form (217 ids). nfc13 and nfc15 now come from the NFC items rather than the consent screens; age, gender and social class now come from the right questions. Replaces moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_nfc. |

#2563 |
| 2026-10-05 | 536 | moral_absolutism_goyal_2025_stance |
Each respondent had appeared as 6 ids with identical answers (issue/trial appended to id); id is now the respondent. Responses recoded to 1 = oppose, 2 = neither/other, 3 = support in all three studies: Study 8 had coded both neither and support as 4, and Studies 6-7 had kept the source’s unordered 1 = support, 2 = oppose, 3 = neither. Study 8’s six items, a different question set (adds same-sex marriage; asks about free access to guns), are renamed from stance_2-stance_7 to stance8_*, and stance_1 (political ideology, not a stance) is removed. study renamed cov_study; rt renamed cov_completion_time_s. 34,860 rows / 5,802 ids to 5,802 rows / 967 ids. |

Study 6 participant 241 was two different people; the second is now study6_241b. Ids are now prefixed with the study (study1_1, …), since each study numbers its participants from 1 and the same number is a different person in each study; this removes 8,338 duplicate id-item rows. 11,195 rows, unchanged otherwise. |

Every answer of 2-6 had been dropped on the 1-7 items: the source labels only the scale endpoints and gives codes 2-6 empty labels, which the build read as missing. Only 1 and 7 had survived, except on the unlabelled PVQ items (value1-21). The file is now read as numeric codes. The prosocial (prosoc_comm1-3, prosoc_global1-3) and WHO-5 (perswb1-5, 1-6) items, which had never mapped, are added. Part_No 381, two different people, is now ids 381_mturk and 381_snowball. The free-text occupation covariate (cov_emp_filed) is removed, and the ordinal covariates (cov_finance_threat, cov_sd_practice, cov_covid_stress, cov_pcvd_ses, cov_pol_or) are numeric codes rather than a mix of codes and endpoint labels. 53,641 to 141,750 rows; 139 to 150 items; 944 to 945 ids. Every response present before is unchanged. | #2837 |

| 2026-10-02 | c19prc_uk_mcbride_2021_lockdown_contact_behaviours |
Rebuilt and restored. The earlier table (withdrawn 2026-09-29, v10.0) matched Wave 6 items to Wave 5 by position, but Wave 6 dropped two of Wave 5’s nine behaviours, so Risk_Behaviours_5 to _7 mixed different behaviours. Codes now follow Wave 5’s numbering, keyed by behaviour: Wave 6 items 5-7 are Risk_Behaviours_7 to _9, and Risk_Behaviours_5 and _6 were asked at Wave 5 only. Wave 5 unchanged; same 37,086 rows and 3,155 people; 6,174 Wave 6 responses changed code. | #2542
| 2026-10-02 | c19prc_uk_mcbride_2021_socialdistance |
Rebuilt and restored. The earlier table (withdrawn 2026-09-29, v10.0) matched Wave 5 items to Waves 1-2 by position, but Wave 5 reordered the block, so nine codes mixed two different statements. Wave 5 items now take the code of the statement with the same wording: W5 item 8 is SocialDistance18, items 9-15 are SocialDistance8-14 and items 16-18 are SocialDistance15_W2-17_W2; W5 item 4, which adds “and facilities”, has its own code SocialDistance4_W5. Waves 1-2 unchanged; same 105,093 rows and 3,383 people; 30,240 Wave 5 responses changed code (24 to 22 item codes). | #2542

Study 2 had keyed the MAS*H item (Q8correct) against Larry Swit rather than Maxwell Klinger, the answer every other study and the supplement use; 44 Study 2 responses are rescored (33 from 0 to 1, 11 from 1 to 0). | 2026-09-20 | 400 | NAMPRB_Siwiak_2024_SSUB |
The retest block had been relabelled to the NAB factor wholesale, so the five Traditional Religious Beliefs items (1, 5, 14, 15, 19) gained a second item code that existed at only one wave, giving 25 codes for a 20-item scale. 351 rows carrying no response removed. The source archive codes “no answer chosen” as 0 and a second sentinel as -1; both were mapped to missing but kept as rows, so they were cells rather than observations (180,420 to 180,069 rows). No retained response changed. | #2313 |

An unnamed leading column in each source file misaligned the headers: the last named column received that study’s final two trials concatenated, producing out-of-range values that the script’s own validity guard then discarded. All trials restored (65,291 to 66,525 rows, 339 to 345 items). Item codes are renumbered: the 100-trial study shifts by 2 and the 150-trial study by 4. | #2313 |
