About this table

DescriptionPhysicians and ECLS staff in Germany and Switzerland (2019; 510 respondents as deposited, article analyses 420 physicians) rated 5 text vignettes each of patients who might start extracorporeal life support (ECMO), varying age, circuit, costs, therapeutic goal, resources, comorbidities and neurological outcome: 1-6 agreement that ECLS should be used (own view) and would be used in their clinic.

Randomization restrictionsyes (stated by the source): fixed blocked D-efficient design (120 vignettes in 24 decks of 5); 80- and 90-year-old patients never bridged to transplant, so transplant goal and those ages are less frequent; 5 age levels
Task orderunknown
Profile positionrecorded in the deposit

Because the attribute levels were not randomized independently, an estimator has to account for the restriction; a plain difference in means across levels can mislead.
