31,120 rated or chosen profiles from 2,255 respondents, in up to 7 tasks of 2 profiles varying on 10 attributes.

About this table

DescriptionUS MTurk workers (2021; 2,255 respondents) chose between and rated 6 pairs of hypothetical congressional candidates varying party, recent news (scandal or praise) and, depending on a randomized information environment, up to 8 further characteristics; respondents were assigned to a forced-choice arm or an arm allowing 'neither', and repeated task 1 in the other format; a replication of Funck & McCabe (2022).

Randomization restrictionsyes (stated by the source): party: each task has one Democrat and one Republican (block D-R or R-D); characteristics shown depend on the information environment (High 8, Moderate first 3 rows, Low none). Level weights (observed, undocumented): candidate gender Male about 2/3 of shown levels, race White about 1/2, profession Lawyer about 1/3 and Business owner about 1/4
Task orderrecorded in the deposit

Because the attribute levels were not randomized independently, an estimator has to account for the restriction; a plain difference in means across levels can mislead.
