4,941 rated or chosen profiles from 993 respondents, in up to 5 tasks of 1 profile varying on 3 attributes.

About this table

DescriptionGerman university students (n = 993, forsa panel, Study 1) read five vignettes about an invited speaker, randomizing speaker type (professor/journalist), a conservative or progressive statement with or without a political demand, and a critical reaction, and judged (yes/no) whether the university should cancel the talk, revoke his teaching, remove his book and allow disruptive protests.

Randomization restrictionsyes (stated by the source): each part drawn by its own Qualtrics BlockRandomizer (SubSet 1 of 2 or 4 branches, each level listed once, so equally likely), independently per topic. Speakers, statements and reactions are topic-specific: each topic (task, trial_topic) has its own levels, so levels of different topics never co-occur; analyse within topic
Task orderunknown
Profile positionrecorded in the deposit

Because the attribute levels were not randomized independently, an estimator has to account for the restriction; a plain difference in means across levels can mislead.
