argote_2026_informality_immigrants

1,203 rated or chosen profiles from 1,203 respondents, in up to 1 tasks of 1 profile varying on 4 attributes.

About this table

DescriptionEconomically active Colombian adults (Netquest online panel, quota 50/50 formal/informal workers) read one vignette about a Venezuelan migrant whose name/sex, previous occupation, degree recognition (engineers and doctors only) and salary expectations were randomized, then rated immigrants like them on five questions (presence, right to stay, effect on own job chances and salary, likelihood of competing). 1,203 respondents.

Randomization restrictionsyes (stated by the source): Degree recognition is shown only when the previous occupation is engineer or doctor (questionnaire programming note); for street vendor and delivery person it is (not shown). Occupation shares are unequal: engineer 401, doctor 398, street vendor 200, delivery person 204 of 1,203 (formal vs informal occupation 50/50); name and salary 50/50; recognition 50/50 within engineer/doctor.
Task orderinferred from row order
Profile positioninferred from row order

Because the attribute levels were not randomized independently, an estimator has to account for the restriction; a plain difference in means across levels can mislead. Task order or profile position was rebuilt from row order; analyses of position or task order should leave it out.
